Divorcing an angry ex requires thought and planning

In our past couple of blog posts, we've discussed domestic violence and how this can impact a marriage. We discussed how people who are victims of domestic violence might choose to file for a restraining order against their alleged abuser. We also discussed how domestic violence might impact your divorce. If your case includes claims of domestic violence, you should review those posts. But, what if your case doesn't involve abuse but does include an angry ex?

We understand that divorce doesn't exactly bring out the best in the parties involved. This is especially true if the divorce is a shock or something that isn't wanted. If you have to deal with an angry ex, be sure to think carefully about how you handle each aspect of ending the marriage.

One thing that might you out is going through mediation. Divorce mediation is something that can help you and your ex work with each other to come up with the terms of the divorce. You don't have to do this alone. Instead, you will work with a third-party mediator who can help you and your ex to negotiate. This can help to keep the negotiations productive and moving in the right direction.

As you go through the divorce process, you might have some questions about your rights and what you can do. We can help you to get the answers you need about property division and other divorce topics. This might help you to stay on track as you work on leaving your angry ex to start your new life as a happy single person.
