Child custody issues can be sticky for couples in Maryland and across the country to navigate, but they are not insurmountable for those willing to work together to further their children's best interests. Hollywood stars Courteney Cox and David Arquette recently finalized their divorce after being married for over a decade. The two have reportedly gone through an amicable split, and have a great deal of affection and respect for each other. These factors will come in handy as the two navigate their joint child custody arrangements of their 8-year-old daughter, Coco.
Many Maryland fans are aware that the well-known acting stars initially met on the set of the movie 'Scream' back in the 90s. Cox, perhaps most famous for starring in the sitcom 'Friends,' confessed that she still considers Arquette one of her closest friends and has a tremendous amount of love for him. Arquette has stated that he shares her deep admiration and that he considers her a beautiful person.
The two have gained respect from many for the fact that their divorce proceedings progressed in such a friendly fashion. The two sought joint custody of their only child, Coco, as that divorce progressed. Their divorce became final in late May, ending ten years of marriage-something that seems remarkable when it comes to a Hollywood relationship.
The fact that these two celebrities have such open respect and admiration for each other is likely helping their joint child custody arrangement run more smoothly. While this may not always be feasible in every Hollywood-or even Maryland-divorce, those who are able to amicably split may find the entire process easier for both themselves and their children. And for those couples who try to split amicably but don't see eye to eye on all child-related issues, they are typically able to petition a family judge to make any needed rulings in the best interests of their children.
