Maryland divorce difficult for famous and not so famous alike

Divorce can be difficult enough for the average Maryland couple to have to go through, with considerations like property division, child custody and spousal support to be hashed out. It can be especially challenging for individuals who are regularly in the public eye to handle. Celebrities often have to contend with a lot of publicity in addition to the more mundane concerns that can pop up in the wake of a divorce announcement.

This may now be the case for actor Steven Weber, whose second marriage is now coming to an end. Weber is particularly known for playing the role of pilot Brian Michael Hackett on a comedy called Wings, which ran on NBC for several years in the 1990s. His current wife, Juliette Lesley Hohnen, filed for divorce on Feb. 6 reportedly giving her reason for the petition as irreconcilable differences.

The divorce petition indicates that she is requesting to obtain joint custody of their two sons, who are nine and 12. She also seeks to be awarded spousal support in her divorce filing. The couple has been married for 17 years. Weber was previously married to an actress named Finn Carter for several years ending in 1992.

While few Maryland couples expect their marriages to end in divorce, being under public scrutiny can certainly make it even harder. Whether a couple is in the public eye or not, however, it can be important for both spouses to ensure that they understand their rights and responsibilities as divorce negotiations proceed. This can help both spouses as they seek to begin their new lives.
